RI STINGRAYS ANNOUNCE SIGNING OF PLAYER OF THE YEAR |

East Providence, RI – The Rhode Island Stingrays are pleased to announce the signing of Nicholas Colaluca, the NSCAA/adidas High School National Player of the Year. Colaluca will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall and will play in the McDonald’s Third Annual All-American High School Soccer Games, which is scheduled to be played at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Nick played midfield for the Rams at La Salle Academy and led the team to a perfect 23-0 record while capturing their fourth consecutive state championship and a final ranking of No. 5 in the NSCAA/adidas national poll. Colaluca is a two time All-American and is also a member of the U-18 U. S. National Team. The Stingrays President, Mario Pereira thinks that Nick’s accomplishments are a great credit to soccer in Rhode Island. The Stingrays are excited about the opportunity to be involved with the continued development of such a great local talent. "Nick Colaluca possesses the skills that separate the average from the potential greats. The Stingrays are proud to have the ability and pleasure to give a player of Nick’s potential the opportunity to showcase and develop his talents in front of his home fans." Colaluca will be teaming up with USL’s All-Star Zico Antunes to lead the Stingrays offense. The Rhode Island Stingrays home opener is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th at 7:30 pm against the New Jersey Stallions. The organization is opening the season with a doubleheader featuring their new franchise, the Rhode Island Lady Stingray of the W-League who will kick off at 5:00 pm against the Long Island Lady Riders at Pierce Memorial Stadium in East Providence.
